The miners strike is an important action that happened in 1984. The miners revolutionized in the mine but finally they lost, and they didn’t get anything.
3.Chapter 1: Two young lives
-" Life was not easy for the Thomas family." Why ? ( 3 lines )
Life isn’t easy for the Thomas family because the father doesn’t work and only comes home occasionally with a little money for food, and the father drink. The rest of the family has to hide the money for food.
- Richard Thomas had been killed while fighting in North Africa in 1943. Which war was it ?
It was the Second World War
- In chapter 1 we know that Megan and Huw are good friends. Describe the moment
They used to sit together at school, and out of school they spent a lot of time together.
4. Chapter 2 : The friendship continues
-In this chapter Megan and Huw take a decision about their relationship. Explain it. Why do they take it?
They decide to become boyfriend and girlfriend. They take decision because their feelings for each other have changed.
5. Chapter 3: Romance grows
-"This Saturday was going to be a night to remember." ( page 15 ) Why?
It was going to be a night to remember because they were away from the village and they could hold hands and kiss in the cinema.
6. Chapter 4: Death at the mine / Leaving Tredonald
-After the first four chapters, how would you define the relationship between Huw and his brother?
The relationship between the brothers was very close because the brothers had to depend on each other and work hard.
7. Chapter 6: A surprise find
-Megan finds the letters Huw had sent her 50 years before, in 1946 and 1947. Imagine Meg's father was still alive and that you are Meg. What would you tell him?
- Dad, why did you do it?
- I wanted to protect you. He wasn’t good enough for you.
-Dad, you broke my heart and destroyed my life!.
In the first letter Meg asks Huw: " Do you think he wanted me to find them when it was to late?". What dou you think?
I think that he did it because then Megan wouldn’t have.
8. Chapter 7: Time to decide
-Before leaving Tredonald, Huw told Megan : "in a year ...I'll come back here and we'll get married..." ( pag.23 ); but things turned out to be completely different. Why ?
Things turned out differently because Meg never wrote back to Huw and he thought that she didn’t love him and eventually he married another woman.

I think she still loves him and she wants to see him for herself.
11. Chapter 11 : A new star
-What's Meg's present job? She’s a tour guide down the mine.
-Why does Huw tell her " you always were a fighter, weren't you?" ? ( pag.48 ) Because she had always been strong and determined when they were young.
-Do you think two people can still be in love after 50 years without seeing each other? No, I don’t because people change after a love time.
12. Chapter 17 : Time to go
-Imagine the conversation between Paul and Megan the moment she tells him that she is still in love with Huw. Write it down

- Obviously, yes. I can’t forget him. I have never forgotten him.

13. Did you like the book? Why ? What did you learn by reading it?
I don't like the book very much, because I have never really enjoyed the love stories, and I think this love is impossible.
The book helped me to know and learn more vocabulary and more expressions that I didn’t know before.
